Wales’ Largest Digital Screen Goes Live at Cardiff Bus Interchange
Route Media is proud to announce the launch of Wales’ largest full-motion digital screen, now live at the new Cardiff Bus Interchange in Central Square. The 100 m²+ display marks a landmark step in the enhancement of digital communications for the city and for public transport.
This striking new feature was officially unveiled at a ceremony attended by the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Adrian Robson, and Lady Mayoress Councillor Jayne Cowan, in partnership with Transport for Wales and Cardiff Council.
A New Era for Public Messaging and Engagement
Operated by Route Media, the screen will serve multiple functions:
- Display travel updates and public announcements
- Deliver dynamic advertising content from local and national partners
- Host live TV broadcasts during major events, turning Central Square into a vibrant public venue
All revenue generated by advertising will be reinvested into the transport network: strengthening services, supporting Interchange operations, and enabling future infrastructure enhancements.
Dean Jones, Sales and Marketing Director of Route Media / The Dragon Group, said:
“Today we are unveiling a brand-new screen on the new bus interchange in Cardiff City Centre that we’ve been working on with Transport for Wales for a number of years now. It’s the biggest full-motion screen in the country. We are really excited to get it up and running after a long journey.
It’s a completely new tool that people can use. A screen of this size that you can run video content on and play in full motion is very unique. On a match day and on other major event days this space is particularly busy as well with a lot of dwell time. You’re going to have millions of people across a 12-month period seeing this site. Creatively it really opens up some new opportunities for the media industry in Wales.”
Alexia Course, Chief Commercial Officer at Transport for Wales, added:
“This is more than just a screen; it’s a powerful communications tool and a symbol of our ambition to modernise the passenger experience for everyone — whether you're commuting, visiting, or just passing through, it's well worth a look."
With the Cardiff installation now complete, Route Media hinted that this is only the beginning. Transport for Wales has set its sights on growing its digital footprint across the country, with further projects already being explored.
Dean Jones added:
“We have big, exciting plans with TFW who are keen to be at the forefront of digital marketing and digital outdoor in Wales.”
